Why does Mbaise USA want to self distruct? (1)

As nwafor Mbaise who is not a member of the Mbaise USA I have been watching from the sidelines and reading from the different forums how people who are supposed to be well informed are out to eradicate one of the few associations holding Mbaise people together. I have taken my time to watch events unfold and I have also tried to collect data that can shade light to the recent uproar that has engulfed this young association. I pride my self and my blog as independent and as a result I have no interest whatsoever in any or all the actors in this saga.

My only interest is to get at the truth where ever it might be and expose it to the general public. I don't know where this search is going to lead me to but let me say from the onset that I would not care one way or the other as long as the generality of Mbaise people get to know the truth or otherwise depending on one's view point. At the end of this exercise I intend to lay the blames squarely on who ever is found blame worthy so that Mbaise can move on. For those that have not been following this saga here is what I know so far in this first part of a two part series on Mbaise USA.

From documentations that I have been able to see so far, there was a town hall general meeting / convention held in Atlanta on the 18Th of July 2010. At the said meeting several resolutions were made and adopted: Resolution (i)
By a “Yes” voice acclamation, the convention resolved that every family that belongs to any chapter of Mbaise USA should pay a levy of $100.00 to implement the health care and security initiatives
Host of 2011 National Convention
Mbaise Education & Cultural Association, Chicago, IL was unanimously selected and presented as the host of 2011 convention.

Umunnem na Umunnam ndi Mbaise the world over, from the above resolution it is clear to me that there was mandatory levy of a $100.00 payable by every Mbaise family that had membership of Mbaise USA. I am not an attorney but common sense would tell us that once a decision is reached and agreed by a majority of members present in any organization it becomes binding. To further buttress this argument there was an election:
The following officers were elected to run the affairs of the associations till 2012:
1 President, Mazi Collins Olorondu, Houston, TX (returned unopposed for a 2ND term)
2 Deputy President, Mazi Paul Onuoha, The Triangle, NC (5 votes to 2 against Mrs. Virginia Ebiringa)
3 Secretary, Atty. Charles Abiahu, The Triangle, NC (returned unopposed, former secretary Elder Fred Umunnakwe declined standing for re-election)
4 Assistant Secretary, Mrs. Christine Enyinnah, Atlanta, GA
5 Publicity Secretary/Director of Socials, Mazi Chamberlain Nwanne, New York, NY, (returned unopposed for a 2ND term)
6 Treasurer, Mrs. Helen Iwu, New York, NY (returned unopposed for a 2ND term)
7 Financial Secretary, Mazi Tony Ogbonna, Chicago, IL (returned unopposed for a 2ND term)
8 Director of Children and Women Affairs, Chief (Mrs.) Ebere Akuechiama, Houston, TX (6 votes to 1 against Mrs. Ngozi Egbulefu)
9 Chairman, Board of Delegates, Mazi Dozie Onwuliri, Atlanta, GA (returned unopposed for a 2ND term)
10 Secretary, Board of Delegates, Mazi Loveday Charles , Chicago, IL (returned unopposed for a 2ND term)
The legal adviser administered the Oath of Office on the elected officer

Adjournment
Having no other business for the session the Town Hall meeting adjourned till 2011 at a date and venue to be fixed. I am going this route in other avoid any doubts as to the legitimacy or otherwise of the Atlanta meeting. Having established the fact that these two events took place and that so far no one has refuted the fact that an election was held and the people so elected have been carrying out their responsibilities as enshrined in the MUSA constitution, then it stands to reason that any one or group of persons that have been attacking this issue of levy are either their to destabilize the association or do not have the interest of Mbaise at heart.

A lot of members of Mbaise have done justice as far as responding to insinuations from certain quarters so I need not waste my time to rehash them again. My appeal as onye Mbaise is that we have more than enough problems at home that require our collective efforts to be wasting time dealing with side shows and frivolities. Things like medical mission to Mbaise, electing an Mbaise man governor or vice president and above all arresting the security menace in our communities. These are causes that another Mbaise outfit the International liaison of Mbaise indigines are tackling and we should be joining hands with them and playing our part instead of allowing a few disgruntled elements in your mist destroy a noble and worth while endeavor. My candid advice to any one who no longer accepts the leadership of Mbaise USA is to do the honorable thing, resign your membership or wait till their term is up and then run for office, but do not destabilize what took effort, time and resources to build otherwise neither history nor Mbaise will be kind to you in the future.

Watch out for part two Wednesday when I deal with MUSA leadership.
