WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE FROM ALL!
WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE FROM ALL!
It is disheartening that since the recent incident involving the Imo State governor and an ordained
priest of the Roman Catholic Church, no one has raised a voice to condemn this barbaric act. Worst still the traditional rulers in the state and even the catholic bishops who used to be the custodian of morality have all been silent on this issue. The question I beg to ask here is this?
Does it mean that every one in the state is now afraid of Ohakim? Do we now live in a police state in Imo? Where are the human rights activists? Where are the christian mothers? Where are the market women? Where are the law abiding citizens of Imo State? For how long would this go on? How long do we have to endure this inhuman treatment by a thug? Where is the PDP and other political parties in the state? Is money and political patronage now every thing in Imo State? Do we no longer have conscience? Where are the so called political leaders of Igbo land?
Do they only show up when there is a loot to be shared? Where is Ohaneze ndi Igbo? What has happened to the Ibo nation? Are we no longer our brother's keeper? Are we going to live in perpetual fear of one man? Where is the federal might? Is Johnathan going to watch as one man destroys the very fabric called Igbo nation. Is the President ever going to call this tyrant to order or is he playing politics of survival of himself? This writer for some time now has championed the cause of our people no matter where the oppression comes from and will continue to do so no matter how highly placed the person oppressing his/her brethren might be.
If this was in the very recent past students could have taken to the streets to protest this injustice of the governor striping a priest naked. It takes one person to start a revolution and in my humble opinion the governors cup is full and he should be made to drink it. If the catholic bishops in Nigeria and Imo State in particular are not able to defend their ordained ministers what would then happen to their teaming flock. I hasten to add here that most of us who are independent observers of the goings on in the state will turn in our chaplets if the catholic church
does no longer stand up for the oppressed.
