Imo State Deserves better than Ohakim

As I indicated a couple of weeks ago about the purported local government elections
in Imo State, the fears of many have now been confirmed that no election took place in the state.
This is because members of the PDP in the state led by the former governor Achike Udenwa had gone to the national secretariat to lodge complaint about the conduct of Ikedi Ohakim.
Some leaders of the Imo State chapter of the (PDP) yesterday dragged Governor Ikedi Ohakim to the leadership of the party, faulting the conduct of local council election in the state.
The state government held council elections about two weeks ago despite the advice for the PDP national secretariat to the contrary.
Led by former governor of the state, Achike Udenwa, the aggrieved members were at the national secretariat in Abuja yesterday where the leaders tendered a complaint to the NWC.
In the protest letter addressed to Nwodo, the group which comprised Senators Ifeanyi Ararume, Chris Anyanwu and Sylvester Anyanwu, said as leaders of the party in the state, they felt bound to alert the national secretariat of the reservations entertained about the council elections, which the state governor conducted in defiance of court orders.
Others who signed the protest letter were Rochas Okorocha, Festus Odimegwu and Dr. Alex Obi.
“As leaders of the Imo State chapter of the PDP and responsible citizens, we feel morally bound to bring to your attention, our reservations over the Imo State local government elections, which the governor, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, conducted in defiance of court orders and directives from the national leadership of the PDP,’’ the group said.
As at the time of filing this report, the NWC was still meeting to take a decision on the protest.
The hope of this independent observer is that for once the PDP will put their house in order and finally do right by the Imo State electorate. For the stake holders in Imo State who are also members of the PDP to drag there own governor to their chairman should tell us that we are dealing with a lunatic who has no respect for the rule of law or any one else for that matter. Time will tell if we are all safe or not under the present Ikedi Ohakim administration.
