If published reports of the the actions of the deputy governor of Imo State is true then she should be ashamed of her self and should bury her head in shame. Since the creation of Imo State the post of the deputy governor has been the highest position attained by an Mbaise son/daughter. This was a welcome development for all especially people from that part of the state having been denied the chance to produce a governor on several occassions given her population.
For purposes of full disclosure, I hail from Ahiazu-Mbaise. It is disheartening to note that the deputy governor according to published reports has religated every other Mbaise town or community to the background except that of hers.... Ife. Reports indicate that all major appointments in her office are from Ife, and more disturbing is that all involved are those related to her or her husband. Further more all contracts that were awarded by her or those influnced by her went to her son and husband. It is also alleged that it has gotten so bad that some well meaning indigines of Ife community has petitioned the state governor. You can trust Mbaise people to petition God if need be to get their point accross. It is this writer's opinion that if these allegations are true, then it stands to reason that the entire Mbaise community should withdraw what ever support or godwill they have for her. The five communities that make up Mbaise have every right to expect some of the dividends or spoils of government given that we have our own as deputy governor. To whom much is given much is expected. If we do not get the patronage from the number citizen of our state who else do we go to? If the DG is so blind to the realities of local politics and her judgment beclouded by ineptness, greed and lack of consideration for the feelings of her fellow indigines then she as a matter public concern should appologise to us all. This is unbecoming of a public servant who should know better. All well meaning citizens of Mbaise as a matter of urgency must comdemn this reckless action of the deputy governor. Mbaise is an entity and should be seen as such. The DG would be better served to spread the appointments and goodies to all parts of Mbaise instead of treating them as her exclusive preserve there by creating the impression which does not speak well of her. It's a pity that we have to air our dirty lundry in the open, but then what other option do I have as a social critic than to bring to lime light the ills of society? More often than not our sons/daughters that have found themselves in positions of power or authority have always either disgraced us or found asleep at the switch. I had expected things to be different but then the definition of stupidity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. My hearts bleeds for my people
