Iri Ji Mbaise in North Carolina

For the first time I ventured outside my comfort zone to attend one of the rituals of a true mbaise son.. the "iri ji festival". This was hosted by the Mbaise Family Union of North Carolina under the able chairmanship of Mr. Paul Onuoha. I did not know what to expect or how it would turn out given the history of Mbaise youths in other parts of the United States of America. I am happy to report that we have finally come of age. My congratulations must go to the Chairman Mr. Onuoha and His wife Chinyere for being wonderfull hosts.

As is always the case with any function by Ibos, the perennial late state was evident as the party which was slated for 9pm did not kick off till a little after 10 pm. It was refreshing to see the new generation of emerging Mbaise leadership. People like Mr. Collins Olorondu the current President of Mbaise USA was chaired the occasion. I also met a cream of the crop, people who Mbaise would always be proud of any day. The likes of Mr Kingsley Anyanwu fro Houston, Mr.and Mrs Wilson Iwu who happens to be the chair Mbaise Family Union Huston. I also met one of our distinguished daughters and her husband a chief from Awomama. In all it was a memorable occassion especially for the fact that they North Carolina MFU used the occasion to raise funds for the purpose of rebuilding some of the school in Mbaise that have been neglected over the years. I was happy that I was able to attend this event to network with people of like minds especially those that have the interest of Mbaise at heart. like the say, a picture is worth a thousand words, I am going to share with my reads some of the images from the party. Remain blessed till next year same date different place.

Great work and effort. I share the passion for self preservation and security of our ancestory and ethos. WE OWE MBAISE ONE THOUGH.

Let us all make the effort to teach our Children our Langauage and dialet. You will be shocked that kids living in Nigeria and even Owerri, do not speak Ibo anymore. Some say the langauge is not sweet. I have started using speaking in Ibo as a reward in my house and it is working. "If you want Ice Cream, say it in Ibo".
God bless you guys for being the vangard of our culture and history. Paul and Co unu birikwe ooh. God willing I will be your guest in next years celebration. Nali Ike.
